They all took off running into the night, each disappearing so quickly, laughing wildly, feeling the power of the moon, compelled to feel everything at that very moment. The adrenaline began to flow freely, the darkness engulfing them all. Soon none could be seen, and so the hunt began. The wind was picking up blowing down from the canyon walls; the crickets were getting louder.
The moon shining, coming out from its hiding place..
The stars cast a dim light on the headstones only revealing enough light to show the eeriness of the cemetery that surrounded them.
Devin finally took off running, the grass being pushed down by her hard steps. She breathed in, hearing herself, feeling herself get scared. She looked further on seeing a willow tree to hide behind; she crouched down behind the long limbs. A branch touched her shoulder, she jumped, screaming as she spun around. Her heart was beating something fierce. She could feel that it was coming; she could feel it. It was crashing through the trees; the beasts were coming to swallow her whole--coming so quickly now, thrashing, twisting, turning. They would soon surround her, rustling in the bushes, breathing hard, watching her, waiting, waiting to jump out and kill her.
Devin's heart was about to burst through her chest.
Oh, God, oh, no, let me have control; let my mind stay in control.
She could see them now, see their silhouettes. Her eyes grew larger. No this wasn't real; she was here now, in this game, not in the other. No one was hunting her; no one was hunting her.
kill her...shoot her...now! Do it, do it now! Kill her. Kill them all!
The voices were so loud, too loud to control. Devin was losing it; maintaining mental stability was slipping through her fingertips. She could hold the rope of reality no more. She felt the veil drop in her mind as she felt herself go insane, mad from the cruelty she had been given, from the cruelty she had given. She threw her hands over the top of her ears and began to wildly scream. She needed for it to end, needed the noise to stop. Her eyes closed, her screams still belting out, one after the other, each one growing louder and louder.
A hand came up, touching her shoulder. Devin's screams worsened: there were more hands touching her, more maddening screams parting her trembling lips.
